Find Real Estate Solutions During Current Events
We are entering a new era in how people interact, gather, and visit other places outside of their homes. It’s an unprecedented time in our history as we navigate how to implement best practices with the threat of Covid-19 (also known as coronavirus), an aggressive strand of the flu virus that has spanned the globe. There are several perspectives that have come to light in response to this current issue. Some blame the hype of media as an instigator of fear and panic. Some see this as a political posturing to force a response that is positive for some and negative for others. Some view this as the first step toward annihilation of the human race or an apocalyptic step toward mass hysteria and chaotic behavior. Some have turned toward spiritual guidance for a new hope in how to live from this point forward. Others have embraced the idea of lockdown and isolation. The perspectives sway with the same wondrous variety of the human mind and all of the cultural richness that has come to be appreciated as a celebration of humanity.
Putting the various perspectives aside, we could all stand to implement some better habits in our effort to stay clean and healthy. This is a time to examine how we as individuals interact at home, at school, at work, and at play. Our recreational and social time may be spent differently as we look ahead. Education and business will look a bit differently in how tasks are accomplished with “social distancing” and “sanitization” efforts as governing officials offer recommendations, declarations and proclamations. Although there are limitations on how we interact during this time, we can still accomplish some tasks with a little flexibility and creativity. Follow these basic procedures and precautions:
- thoroughly wash hands using soap and hot water
- cover sneezes and coughs, then dispose of tissue
- wipe surfaces frequently with sanitizing solution
- stay home if not feeling well
If we take the advice of what the food service industry has instructed for decades, it would serve us well:
“Clean-as-you-go!”
Let’s turn this topic toward how to proceed while looking for solutions in real estate. Whether selling, buying, redeveloping, or investing — there are some simple steps we can take to maintain personal safety for everyone involved. Here are some ideas:
- make calls from home or your mobile device
- meet using a virtual apps (facetime, Teams video, Skype, Zoom, GoToMeeting, etc.)
- Use Google Maps street view to see exterior and neighborhood
- Have homeowner walk-through with photos or video from a phone
- Carry hand sanitizer (60% or more alcohol) or sanitizing wipes in your car
- Keep hands away from your face after touching items or visiting places
- Try to maintain 6-feet distance from others, but use tact and manners
- Take care of document tasks from your home computer when possible
If we all exercise a bit of common sense, we can help each other stay safe while still accomplishing our goals. Enjoy some time with your family and stay healthy!
